A Sculptor

I recently read a story about a sculptor who was approached by an admirer. This person wanted to know how he was able to sculpt such real life detail images of an elephant. It has been my experience that if you follow the following two (2) rules you will live a good life:

Rule 1. Always do the right thing. You know in your heart what is right and what is wrong, so just do the "right thing".

A Pebble

As I walked along the beach today, my mind was occupied by the beauty of the day including a clear sky and bright sun. I was enjoying the feel of the sand and surf at my feet. My eye was suddenly caught by a bright object at the water’s edge.

Let it go!

Life is full of painful drama and trauma! You are not going to be able to avoid all of these problems but what you can avoid is embracing and wallowing in them to the point that they destroy your life. Some of these problems are unavoidable but some are self inflicted and can be avoided.

Focus!

They say we use about 1/3 of our mind dealing with “past” anger, regret and guilt. Once that round goes downrange you can’t call it back. You can't unring that bell!  Learn from the experience, move on and don’t let it destroy your present or future.

Sleep on it!

How many times have you heard the expression: "Let me sleep on it"? Scientist say that when we go to bed contemplating a problem, the answer always seems clearer the next day. Apparently this is because our subconscious mind works on the problem while we are sleeping and the mind is clear of the normal clutter and distractions we experience while working during the day.

I recall a story about a judge giving a young man a life sentence for a crime he had committed.

On May 1, 2003 his son George W. Bush stood on the deck of the USS Abraham Lincoln for an infamous "photo op" and declared “Mission Accomplished”. Since then it is estimated that 4,430 Americans have died in Iraq and 1,442 have died in Afghanistan for an estimated total of 5,872 of which a significant number were due to what is euphemistically called “Friendly Fire”. The most famous being the Department of Defenses contrived explanation concerning the death of Patrick Daniel “Pat” Tillman who was a true American hero in and out of uniform.
