How many times have you heard the expression: "Let me sleep on it"? Scientist say that when we go to bed contemplating a problem, the answer always seems clearer the next day. Apparently this is because our subconscious mind works on the problem while we are sleeping and the mind is clear of the normal clutter and distractions we experience while working during the day.
I think the same can be said for meditation. Once we are able to get our mind to a peaceful state free of distractions, we are better able to focus on the issue at hand and more readily arrive at a clear solution. Just think of it as defragging your “computer”! By rearranging and sorting out all of the clutter, it just runs better.
